Is photography a real career?

A career in photography means that you're an entrepreneur. You use your business skills and camera skills to create a thriving business and earn a living doing work you're proud of. If you're thinking of pursuing a career in photography, there are many routes you can go on.

Picture this

: you really like the idea of selling real estate as your main business, but you decide to take pictures of the house yourself.

We've been through this and, when we talk to many other successful photographers, this seems to be what resonates a lot like the truth of the real world. This is not the case; in reality, anyone who practices the art of photography and maintains their skills and credentials can be considered a professional photographer. In practice, this translates into product photographs, photographs for advertisements, real estate photographs and the like. These may be good options for you if you're looking to use your artistic and photographic skills without needing to commit to a full career in photography itself.

If you're a good photographer, but you're not quite sure what you want to take pictures of, this is a HUGE question for you. In addition, stock photography services available online allow individuals and businesses to access stock photos in exchange for a fee or subscription, which could reduce demand for photographers. This can be a way to eliminate the need to pay for real estate photography (if you decide to start your own real estate business) and still integrate your love for photography with a well-established career path. Most of the time, real photographic work is complemented by offering educational opportunities to other people, such as “in real life” at a university institution or hosted by themselves through a platform such as F-Stop Tours.
